In 1993, after welcoming our baby daughter and purchasing our first home, I unexpectedly lost my job in the high-tech industry.
Shortly after, a neighbour needed help with their garage door opener. I offered to take a look — and to my surprise, I was able to fix it.
They offered to pay me. I declined.
Walking home, a thought hit me:
I could make a living fixing garage doors.
I’ve always been a fixer, but something about garage doors — the mechanics, the challenge, the problem-solving — truly interested me. When I got home, I told my wife about the idea. Within a few days, we sold both of our cars, purchased a red pickup truck, and Capital Door Service was born.
Fast forward to today — we have proudly served Ottawa homeowners since 1993.
More than three decades later, Capital Door Service remains a family business built on trust, reliability, and professional service. That commitment has made us one of the most trusted residential garage door providers in Ottawa, Ontario
